Flatiron Wines San Francisco: Online shopping now available!

Friends of Flatiron:

You can finally shop Flatiron Wines San Francisco online

Both Flatiron New York and Flatiron San Francisco now have full e-commerce capabilities, right on this page. But please note: you can only be in one store at a time—you can see whether you’re shopping New York or San Francisco at the top right of your browser, and you can toggle back and forth by clicking there, too.

We’re super excited to be up and running online and look forward to hearing back from all of you as we continue to improve the experience. We really appreciate any feedback!

A couple of notes about our site:

  • When you’re in the San Francisco store you’ll only see San Francisco’s wines and spirits; likewise, when you’re in New York you’ll only see New York’s inventory.
  • We calculate shipping rates from the shop you are purchasing from.
  • Unfortunately, you cannot mix products from the San Francisco and New York shops in one shopping cart.
  • But if you have an account set up it will work with either shop.
  • Your browser sends you to either the SF or NYC store based on your location and purchase history, but if the default store’s wrong you can change it in the “Account Settings” section of your “My Account” dashboard.

Happy shopping!

Welcome to Flatiron Wines San Francisco!

Hello Friends of Flatiron!

We are thrilled to announce that our San Francisco store opened its doors for business yesterday evening!

Here’s how to find us:

Address: The shop is at 2 New Montgomery St, just off Market (at the Palace Hotel).

Telephone: 415-780-1405

Hours: We’re open 7 days a week, from 9am-9pm (and 11am-7pm, Sundays)

We can’t wait to see you here!

As you’ve hopefully heard, we have two amazing tasting rooms and we’re putting them to good use. We’ve got a great by the glass program (and $10 corkage), and we’re hosting tons of free, educational tastings.

To kick things off, we had Stephane Moreau from Moreau-Naudet sampling his artisanal wines from Chablis and the turnout was spectacular.  Thank you to all who made it a point to drop-in to make us (and Stephane) feel welcome!

Right now, we have a new website in the works that will allow folks to shop our entire range of offerings in NYC and SF from a single storefront.  We were hoping to have this ready to share with everyone but it still needs some polish.  In the meantime, we invite you to stop in to shop our selections and maybe even stay awhile to enjoy a glass of wine in our tasting room.

Now for the really important stuff: We are located at 2 New Montgomery Street – just south of Market where New Montgomery meets Jessie. We are open Monday through Saturday from 9am to 9pm and also on Sunday from 11pm to 7pm. If you have any questions or have trouble finding us, please call us at (415) 780-1405.

Lastly, we have free tastings lined up for the next couple weeks. Here is what we have confirmed right now but please check back often for the latest. We would love for you to stop by and help welcome Flatiron Wines and Spirits into our new home on the west coast!

  • Wednesday 2/10 5pm – Tasting Chacra wines with Piero Incisa Della Rocchetta
  • Thursday 2/18 5pm – Tasting Presqu’ile wines (Santa Maria Valley) w/ Dieter Cronje
  • Saturday 2/20 3pm – Tasting Champagne with Aurelien Suenen of Suenen Champagne

SF: Cain Vineyard Tasting with winemaker Chris Howell

Saturday April 16th, 3-5pm

If you’ve ever been up to visit Cain, you’ll know that the vineyard sits on one of the most beautiful locations in Napa on the crest of Spring Mountain.  Just one look at the perfect vines and you’ll come to have a sense of why the wines are so singular and delicious.  Drawing inspiration from his time in France, winemaker Chris Howell has been at the helm of production since 1990, and carries with him many traditions of old world winemaking.  Unlike many other Napa producers who abide by the “more is always better” philosophy, Howell and his team at Cain tend to pick their fruit earlier, so that the brightness and juiciness of the grapes are not lost to a later harvest.  The results are Bordeaux style blends that showcase rich and aromatic fruit, elegance, and most importantly balance.

If that’s not enough, we also were able to acquire some coveted 2001 Cain Five’s that we will be sharing as well, which was one of their best vintages of all time.  Don’t miss your chance to come taste these complex and delicious wines with us on Saturday the 16th from 3-5pm!

SF: Loire tasting with Arnaud Lambert, Chateau de Breze

Thursday April 14th 5pm-7pm

This week we are visiting the Saumur region of the Loire,  known for producing some of the most sought after Cabernet Francs in the world.  Chateau de Breze is located on the hill of Breze, a very unique location due to the soils and climate that meet here. Arnaud Lambert controls nearly 80% of the hill of Breze in Saumur and alongside Guiberteau, Rougeard and now Collier.  Come learn about the unique history of this region and sample some of the singular wines produced from Chateau de Breze.

SF Tasting: Banshee Wines with Noah Dorrance

Wednesday April 13th 5pm-7pm

As we’ve already witnessed here in San Francisco, Banshee is one of our producers that consistently flies off the shelf as soon as it’s stocked.  Started by 3 friends with a shared passion for wine, their goal was to fill a growing demand for high quality, delicious pinot noir and chardonnay at reasonable prices.  We think they’ve done quite a job and this week you can taste for yourself and meet owner/winemaker Noah at the shop!

SF Tasting: A trip to the Balkans

Thursday April 7th 5pm-7pm

Feeling a bit adventurous and want to taste some truly unique wines from one of the oldest producing wine regions in history? Next Thursday we have a real treat, eastern European wine expert Eric Danch from importer Blue Danube will be in the shop pouring a plethora of indigenous varietals from Georgia, Croatia, and Slovenia. Come and learn the history and stories behind these unique wines, we promise they won’t disappoint.

SF: Beer Tasting with North Coast Brewing

Wednesday April 6th 5pm-7pm

We are excited for our first ever beer tasting at the SF shop! A pioneer in the craft beer movement since 1988, North Coast brewing carries brands you may have heard of such as Scrimshaw and Old Rasputin.  We hope you can join us to sample a wider range of their delicious beers in the SF shop.

SF Tasting: Spanish Wine Tuesday

Tuesday April 5th 5pm-7pm

If you haven’t explored enough Spanish wines in your life, we’re giving our customers an opportunity next week to taste through  many diverse regions in Spain as well as some of our favorite undiscovered, small producers making stellar wines at great values!

Natural wine tasting with Donkey and Goat

Thursday, March 31st 5pm-7pm San Francisco

Donkey and Goat are one of the most talked about labels in the the current California natural wine scene. But if you hear natural in conjunction with wine, and it makes you think of something cloudy that tastes vaguely of cider, let Tracy and Jarod show you the light. Through their hyper minimalist approach to winemaking, they craft expressively elegant wines from some of California’s most unique vineyard sites. These are the yardsticks that other California natural wines now measure up to.

Napa tasting with Bruce Neyers

Tuesday, March 29th 5pm-7pm San Francisco

Looking for naturally produced Napa wines that are farmed organically and affordable? Look no further than Neyers Vineyards.  Bruce Neyers and his wife founded their vineyards in 1992, and prior to that Neyers had been in the industry for over 20 years working with names like Kermit Lynch, Macayamas, Heitz and Joseph Phelps.  His wines are delicious and approachable now yet ageworthy, some of the best value we carry in California!
