Why?
From Oregon’s Willamette Valley, Crowley Wines is producing some of the finest domestic Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays we know.
We’re craving comfort now more than ever — but comfort can be quietly thrilling. Crowley’s Pinot Noir exudes earthy elegance, at the same time offering up supple red fruit and silky freshness. The Chardonnay delivers an electric shock of minerality, bright citrus notes and a light, lithe texture.
Since its founding in 2005, the emphasis at Crowley has been terroir-focused and Burgundy-influenced Pinots and Chardonnays from some of Oregon’s top sites; this means high elevation, cool climate and a diverse range of soil types (not difficult in the Willamette, where volcanic basalt yields to marine sediment and silt). The work in the vines and in the cellar is minimal.
We adore these wines and we hope you join us for this tasting event!
How?
You can purchase the wines from SF online HERE.
You can order the following wines from NY by emailing valerie@flatiron-wines.com.
Valerie will get back to you ASAP send you an invoice. We will do our best to get you your wines before Monday, so you can celebrate at home.
Crowley Wines, Willamette Valley Pinot Noir, 2018 $25.99 $22.99 or $21.99 on any 4 bottles
Crowley knows that this is the first of his wines most people will taste, so he pays lots of attention! Again, mostly high-elevation fruit here, so the flavors shade towards raspberry with fruit peel and spice to balance it out. There is nothing in Burgundy that tastes this good for the price!
Crowley Wines Willamette Valley Chardonnay 2018 $25.99 $22.99 or $21.99 on any 4 bottles
Own-rooted Chardonnay planted at a cool high elevation site in marine sedimentary soils, where it is farmed dry and organically. This is really an astonishing value in American white wine. Loaded with notes of citrus, pear and minerals.
Crowley Wines Four Winds Chardonnay 2017 $49.99 $45.99 or $42.99 on any 4 bottles
>From approximately 30-year-old vines, at an altitude of 700 meters, this cuvée could easily translate to a premier cru site for Crowley — the wine is opulent, with saline notes that call to mind toast or lobster shell — all wrapped around a core of pure minerality. There's a long, persistent finish and a silky freshness like mountain spring water.
Crowley Wines Four Winds Pinot Noir 2017 $49.99 $45.99 or $42.99 on any 4 bottles (LIMITED)
After a few vintages of producing Chardonnay from the Four Winds Vineyard, Tyson decided Pinot Noir from the same plot was the next move. These Pommard clone vines are also roughly 30 years of age, at an elevation of 700m. There's just a hint of spice, an elegant, cassis-dominated palate and a whiff of tannic structure. A beautiful wine with fascinating tension.
