From the day one at her first wine job, Clara vowed to never assume she knew anything and to always ask more questions than she could answer.
Ten years in New York's wine retail world followed: from the neighborhood hangout Bed-Vyne Wine to running Flatiron Wines for six years as General Manager. There, she built the events and education program, served as buyer for Champagne, Germany, Austria, Portugal, Eastern Europe, and the New World, and worked with a roster of private clients. She remains a consultant to Flatiron, writing Letter to Europe, detailed wine dispatches from the continent, and handling corporate orders.
In pursuit of deeper knowledge, she earned her DipWSET from the International Wine Center, became a Certified Italian Wine Professional, and spent two years working toward her Master of Wine.
A move to Copenhagen brought her closer to Europe's great vineyards—and to new opportunities. She founded Vin de Licorne, a consulting company working with private clients, winemakers, importers, and retailers worldwide on purchasing, sales, and marketing strategy. She's launching Copenhagen Wine Experience, a wine tour company, and contributes regularly to Wine Enthusiast Magazine, previously serving as a weekly columnist for The New York Sun and contributor to The New Wine Review.
No matter how many bottles she's popped, winemakers she's grilled, or answers she's unveiled—wine continues to enlighten and delight her.
